Once we have provided you with your account details you have two ways to manage your e-mails; the first is via the Outlook Web Access (OWA) and requires that you have an Internet connection and a compatible web browser. This can be accessed by using the URL https://mail.abbserv.com/exchange. The second is using an e-mail client that supports POP3 and SMTP. An example is Microsoft Outlook Express.
To setup Outlook Express now follow these steps:
-
Open Outlook Express and if never used before you will be presented with an Internet Connection Wizard. If you are taken straight into Outlook without the wizard go to step 10
-
In the display name box type the name you wish people to see when they receive your e-mails. This is normally your full name. Press Next.
-
Type the e-mail address that we provided you with i.e. yourname@yourdomain.com. Press Next.
-
Our server uses POP3 which should be displayed by default from the drop down list. The incoming mail address is mail.abbserv.com. The outgoing mail address is mail.abbserv.com. Press Next.
-
Type the username and password we provided you with for your e-mails. Normally we will set your username the same as your e-mail address.
-
Tick to remember your password and don't enable SPA. Then Press Next and finish the wizard.
-
Outlook Express will the download and remove the e-mails from our servers by default. If you wish to keep the e-mails on our server so that you can still read them via OWA then select 'Tools' from the top menu > Accounts > Mail > Edit mail.abbserv.com. Click on advanced and tick the box that reads 'Leave a copy of messages on the server' and 'Remove from server when deleted from Deleted Items'.
-
You will not be able to sent any e-mails until you turn on Outgoing Mail Server Authentication. Select 'Tools' from the top menu > Accounts > Mail > Edit mail.abbserv.com > Servers and tick 'My server requires authentication' The credentials if required are the same as above.
